Your Learner Profile represents the qualities, values, skills and dispositions we want every learner to develop during their time at your Mountview School.
Our Learner Profile represents our shared vision for the learners we want to nurture at Mountview School. It reflects the knowledge, skills, values and dispositions we believe will enable our ākonga to thrive at school and beyond.
Grounded in our local context and shaped by the aspirations of our ākonga, whānau, staff and community, the profile provides a shared picture of what success looks like for a Mountview learner.
Throughout their journey at Mountview, our learners are supported to grow through our values of Whakaute, Angitu, Hauora, Kotahitanga and Haepapatanga. These values guide how they learn, how they relate to others, how they contribute, and how they take increasing ownership of their learning.
Our Learner Profile is more than an end point. It helps shape the learning experiences, relationships and opportunities we provide from the time a child enters Mountview through to when they leave us. Ultimately, we want our Year 8 graduates to leave Mountview confident in who they are, connected to others and their place, and equipped to continue learning, contributing and succeeding.

Responsive Learning Environment
At Mountview School we focus on learning programmes where students drive their own learning and are required to problem solve and work collaboratively using an inquiry approach. All students receive a responsive learning programme that meets their needs as learners. We use formative assessment and culturally responsive practices within our classroom to engage our students in their learning as well as valuing their well-being.
We are unique, not just in Taupo but also nationally in that we are one of the few schools that offer classrooms in either Te Reo Maori and English mediums. We are dedicated to offering choice to our community in valuing our bi-cultural nation and the importance of this to our students and their education in New Zealand. We are increasingly becoming multi-cultural as our community brings more ethnicities to Taupo.
