Health Promoting Schools

Health Promoting Schools is an internationally recognised framework utilised in over 50 countries worldwide to improve the health and wellbeing of school communities through a whole school approach.

There is strong evidence to support the Health Promoting Schools approach as a best practice framework for school health promotion. Health Promoting Schools supports school communities to identify and address their prioritised health needs and take actions that use their strengths and build capability. The framework empowers school communities to develop solutions for their own transformation in partnership with health, education and social services. The HPS Inquiry cycle is outcomes focused and sustainable as it builds on what schools already do and integrates the actions and outcomes into schools’ planning and reporting mechanisms.
